My 13 year old border collie Scotty torn his cruciate ligament in his left rear leg playing fetch one afternoon. He’s very active and independent and it was killing him not to be mobile. I was surprised by the cost of surgery ($3,300) in my area. I called around and could actually fly him to the midwest ($350) where it only cost $1,000 per knee, but would be a much more traumatic experience for him.

My assumption was that his other knee would be soon to follow. I love my dog and would do just about anything for him and while the cost of surgery was steep I considered it until I found out it would take about 9 months for recovery and he wouldn’t be able to do anything during that time. That also would kill him and it may be half of the time he has left.

So I made a knee brace/harness for him. It works really well, he walks and runs and does stairs and has regained his sense of independence. He’s been wearing it for about a month now and won’t let me take it off. He knows that it helps and I don’t think it’s uncomfortable.

I think this might be a good product and I’m looking for anyone with a dog with this issue that would like to try the harness. I’d like to get some video of before and after.
